Owen Stropoli Receives DAR Good Citizen Award

Brother Rice High School proudly congratulates senior Owen Stropoli, recipient of the DAR Good Citizen Award. Owen is also the winner of the local DAR Good Citizen Essay Contest. He was selected to represent Brother Rice and the Piety Hill Chapter of the DAR for his leadership, service, and patriotism.

Selected from 16 student representatives from local high schools, Owen’s essay stood out among a competitive field. With this achievement, he now advances to the state-level competition in Lansing, where he will represent Brother Rice against students from 55 DAR chapters across Michigan.

The DAR Good Citizen Award celebrates individuals who exemplify the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. These values are central to the mission of Brother Rice and are evident in the way Owen approaches every aspect of his life.

Leadership, Service, and Faith at Brother Rice

A National Honor Society member and captain of the Brother Rice wrestling team, Owen is also a talented artist. He served as an ACTION Ambassador for the 2024–2025 school year. Along with his peers, he led advocacy initiatives including a homelessness project. His commitment to service extends beyond campus. Owen particpated in mission trips to Peru and Brownsville, Texas, where he worked directly with communities facing poverty and hardship.

Faith has been a defining part of Owen’s journey at school. He sang with Warrior Worship for four years. He served as a Kairos retreat leader, guiding fellow students through moments of reflection, spiritual growth, and renewal. His leadership is steady and authentic, rooted in example rather than recognition.

Owen Stropoli is a powerful example of the young men formed at Brother Rice High School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. He lives the charism of Blessed Edmund Rice, leading with Respect, Integrity, Character, and Excellence. We congratulate Owen on this well-deserved honor and wish him continued success as he represents Brother Rice at the state level and beyond.
