A Lasting Legacy

Ensuring the future of Brother Rice High School depends on the vision and generosity of those who invest in it. Planned giving offers a powerful way to create a lasting legacy of support. There are various ways to make a planned gift, each providing unique benefits for both you and Brother Rice.

Planned gifts are crucial for securing the future of Brother Rice High School. By making a planned gift today, you help guarantee that future students will have the same opportunities for success as our current students. This is an investment with long-lasting impact.

Planned gifts to Brother Rice High School, like other contributions, can be either restricted or unrestricted. Given the unpredictability of future needs, many donors choose to make their bequests unrestricted, allowing Brother Rice to allocate funds where they are most needed. By making a planned gift, you are thoughtfully ensuring the success of future students.

Legacy Society of 1802

Blessed Edmund Rice, the founder of the Congregation of Christian Brothers, opened his first school in 1802 in Mount Sion, Waterford. The Legacy Society of 1802 recognizes those members of the community who have made commitments through estate planning to contribute to the legacy of the school.  Membership in this honorary society is conferred upon generous benefactors who have provided for Brother Rice High School in their estate plans by way of a will, beneficiary designation, life insurance policy, or other form of a planned gift.

Benefits of Making a Planned Gift

In addition to supporting the mission of Brother Rice High School, a planned gift can provide to you substantial tax advantages, especially on gifts of stocks and real estate. The total income, estate, and capital gains tax savings and the probate expense savings can come close to the amount transferred. The benefits include:

  • An Income Tax Deduction
  • Reduced Capital Gains Taxes
  • Reduced Probate Costs and Estate Taxes
  • Income for Life

Simply by taking advantage of incentives the IRS provides, you and your advisor can craft a gift that fits your needs, as well as the needs of Brother Rice High School. A planned gift makes it possible for you, your loved ones, and our school to all benefit.
