A Lasting Legacy

Ensuring the future of Brother Rice High School depends on the vision and generosity of those who invest in it. Planned giving offers a powerful way to create a lasting legacy of support. There are various ways to make a planned gift, each providing unique benefits for both you and Brother Rice.

By choosing to make a planned gift, you ensure that future students will enjoy the same opportunities for success as our current students. Your generosity creates a meaningful impact that lasts for years to come, helping to shape the leaders of tomorrow.

Planned gifts allow donors to leave a legacy that will endure long after their lifetime. By supporting Brother Rice through a planned gift, members of our community ensure that their values and commitment to Catholic education continue to shape the school’s mission, students, and community for years to come. It’s a powerful way to make a lasting impact and be remembered as a steward of the school’s future.

Donors who are passionate about Catholic education and the values Brother Rice upholds—such as academic excellence, faith formation, and service—can see a planned gift as an expression of their personal commitment to these ideals. You can align your philanthropy with your values, supporting the school in its mission to nurture both the intellectual and spiritual growth of our students.

A planned gift can directly benefit generations of students, particularly by providing tuition assistance or funding for scholarships. Many Brother Rice students rely on financial aid to attend, and a planned gift can help make a Brother Rice Catholic education accessible to more families, ensuring that the school can continue to develop future leaders grounded in faith, discipline, and service.

Planned gifts contribute to the long-term financial stability of the school. By investing in the school’s endowment or supporting capital improvements, planned gifts help sustain Brother Rice’s mission and ensure that it can continue to provide high-quality education, state-of-the-art facilities, and robust programs. This financial strength is key to maintaining the school's excellence and faith-centered education.

In addition to supporting the mission of Brother Rice High School, planned giving offers flexibility and potential tax advantages for our donors. Depending on the structure of the gift —whether through a bequest, charitable trust, or as a beneficiary of an investment account, IRA, or life insurance policy —donors may be able to reduce estate taxes or even enjoy tax benefits during their lifetime. These advantages make planned giving an attractive option for those who wish to make a significant contribution without affecting their immediate financial situation.

Legacy Society of 1802

Blessed Edmund Rice, the founder of the Congregation of Christian Brothers, opened his first school in 1802 in Mount Sion, Waterford. The Legacy Society of 1802 recognizes those members of the community who have made commitments through estate planning to contribute to the legacy of the school.  Membership in this honorary society is conferred upon generous benefactors who have provided for Brother Rice High School in their estate plans by way of a will, beneficiary designation, life insurance policy, or other form of a planned gift.
