Brother Rice is thrilled to announce Scott Collins as the new head coach of the Warrior Cross Country program, starting in the 2024 fall season. Coach Collins has been an integral part of the Brother Rice coaching staff since 2021, serving as an assistant coach.
With 20 years of coaching experience, Scott brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the program. He held various coaching and administrative roles in both the men’s and women’s cross-country programs at Oakland University from 2005 to 2017. Before joining Brother Rice, he served as the head coach at the Academy of the Sacred Heart for three years.
As an athlete, Coach Collins had a distinguished career at Oakland University, competing from 1993 to 1995 and serving as team captain in his senior year. He qualified individually for the 1995 NCAA Cross Country National Championships, where he finished 17th overall and earned NCAA All-America honors, becoming only the second All-American in the program’s history. Additionally, he was a two-time First Team All-GLIAC Conference selection and a two-time NCAA Great Lakes All-Region honoree. Scott also competed in the 1996 U.S. National Cross Country Championships at Stanford University and the 1997 U.S. Cross Country Championships at Blue Lake Park in Portland, OR. His achievements were recognized with his induction into the Hollie Lepley Athletic Hall of Honor in 2007.
Scott and his wife, Patricia, live in Rochester Hills with their sons, Liam ’24 and Nolan ’26. Brother Rice is confident that Coach Collins’ extensive experience and passion for cross country will lead the Warrior program to new heights.
