Mr. Joe Kalczynski ’96 named Amazing Catholic Educator

Congratulations are in order for Mr. Joe Kalczynski ’96, who has received the esteemed Amazing Catholic Educator Award from the Catholic Foundation of Michigan! This distinguished accolade is a testament to Mr. Kalczynski’s exceptional contributions to education within the Archdiocese of Detroit, where he has fostered a school environment that seamlessly combines Catholic pride with academic excellence.

In his twenty-first year as a Physics, Math, and Engineering teacher at Brother Rice, Mr. Kalczynski personifies the school’s values and mission with steadfast dedication. His commitment extends beyond academics, beginning each class with reflective devotions and prayers, ensuring that his teaching aligns with the gospel message and guides students on a journey of spiritual growth.

Mr. Kalczynski’s impact is particularly notable in his innovative teaching methods, incorporating hands-on projects and collaborative learning that captivate students’ interest. His influence extends to inspiring numerous students to pursue careers in engineering and architecture. Moreover, as the leader of the Band of Brothers program, he instills principles of leadership and camaraderie among students through daily activities and special events.

Beyond the confines of the classroom, Mr. Kalczynski’s commitment to the holistic development of each student reflects the spirit of Blessed Edmund Rice, the school’s founder. As an alumnus, teacher, and Band of Brothers Program Director, he is an exemplary mentor and role model for our young men.
