Affording Brother Rice

At Brother Rice, we make Catholic education accessible, affordable, and attainable.

The Brother Rice Financial Aid Program supports the school’s commitment to finding and enrolling talented and diverse students from the area. We invest over $1,500,000 annually in our students through financial aid and scholarships. Qualified students receive an average award of $4,000. Need-based financial aid awards are not loans; they are grant awards that do not need to be repaid. In addition to need based scholarships, Brother Rice awards merit based scholarships based on a student’s HSPT test score results.

  • BROTHER RICE HIGH SCHOOL FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION

Through the generous contributions of Brother Rice alumni, friends, and families, and organized fundraising events, the school offers financial assistance to qualifying families. In accordance with the Essential Elements of an Edmund Rice Christian Brother Education, our goal is to establish tuition and scholarship policies that open education opportunities to families in need.

The example of Blessed Edmund Rice motivates and inspires our entire community; read more about his life and the Essential Elements of a Christian Brother Education here.

Families must apply and be evaluated by a third-party assessment service, FACTS Grant & Aid. Consideration includes income level, family size, number of family members in tuition-based schools, assets, monthly family expenses, and special circumstances. The FACTS application period is open November 1-August 15 for the upcoming school year.

Completing the FACTS Grant & Aid Application is NOT required for enrollment or freshmen merit based awards. However, if applying for need-based scholarships or financial aid, you are required to complete the application. Families must reapply each year to be considered for assistance in subsequent years.

Who needs to complete the financial aid application?

Only complete this application after you have determined your own resources are insufficient to cover tuition. This includes access to savings, investments, trusts, educational saving accounts (529), etc. Brother Rice High School is prepared to help families that qualify for need-based assistance and asks all families to sacrifice in order that the school may help as many families as possible. Each qualifying family will be required to pay a fair portion of the tuition costs.

Resources are limited, and therefore, not all families who apply or qualify receive financial aid. Due to the limited resources, applying for financial assistance as early as possible is suggested.

To be considered for financial aid from Brother Rice, families must:

  1. Apply and be accepted to Brother Rice High School.
  2. Complete the FACTS Grant & Aid application – the application will require you to attach the following tax documents: Form 1040, W2’s, current pay stub. If you have a business/trust reported on Schedule C or E additional supporting forms will be required. Click here for FACTS Grant & Aid Required Documentation.
  3. Regardless of the marital status of the parents, both the custodial parent and non-custodial parent will have to create their own individual FACTS accounts and complete the application. (Tuition assistance will consider the assets and income of both parents/guardians before making an award and will not be bound by the assertion that one parent has a disclaimed responsibility for educational expenses.)

When the application is considered complete in FACTS ($30 Fee to FACTS), the financial aid committee will review and determine the amount of tuition assistance to be awarded to the family for the upcoming school year.

Click here for the FACTS Grant & Aid Application after you have read the information on this page. To create a NEW FACTS Grant & Aid account, you will select “Search for my Institution”, add the ZIP CODE 48301, and then select “Search” to locate Brother Rice High School.

For questions regarding financial aid, please contact the Brother Rice Finance Office at 248.833.2050.
