Danny Holt ’25 exemplifies what it means to be a Brother Rice Warrior: resilient, humble, and driven by purpose. He was recently honored with the prestigious Courage Award at the 2025 Detroit High School Sports Awards, recognizing not only his athletic and academic achievements but the quiet strength of character he brings to every aspect of life.
Living with Type 1 diabetes, Danny has never let the condition define him or slow him down. Named Valedictorian of the Class of 2025, he also earned the Brother Rice Medal for Computer Science and was recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction. A Scholastic All-Catholic Team honoree, Danny has been the recipient of multiple scholarships, including the Tradition of Excellence Scholarship, the Zidar Family Scholarship, and the IKE Guardian Angel Scholarship.
On the lacrosse field, Danny’s legacy is cemented. As a dominant face-off specialist, four-year varsity player, and two-time MHSAA State Champion, he played a key role in leading the Warriors to their 17th state title this spring. His senior season was capped with honors including USA Lacrosse All-American, First Team All-State, All-Catholic League, Academic All-Catholic, and Team MVP. He was also a finalist for Michigan Lacrosse Player of the Year.

Danny’s impact reaches far beyond grades and game stats. A Kairos student-leader, member of the Warrior Worship Choir, and lead performer with the MRP Players, Danny has poured his talents into every corner of campus life. His dedication to service earned him the Rochester Area Youth Assistance Leadership Award and a four-year role on Charlotte’s Wings Youth Leadership Council, supporting children in medical crisis through literacy.
What truly sets him apart is not just his long list of achievements, it’s how he has done it all while managing the daily challenges of diabetes. Danny’s courage and character not only stand out but also inspire and uplift the entire Brother Rice family.
This fall, Danny will attend Vassar College to continue his lacrosse career and pursue a degree in Computer Science.
