Brother Rice Proudly Announces Aaron Marshall as New Head Football Coach

“I see an opportunity to build on the rich tradition at Brother Rice and continue the legacy that has touched me and my family. I really appreciate this chance to be a part of something special.  I promise the Brother Rice community that we will be the hardest-working team in the off-season, anywhere. We are going to get to work right away in the new year and we will make you proud.”

— Aaron Marshall
Brother Rice Head Football Coach

Dear Warrior Nation,

We are proud to announce Aaron Marshall as the next Head Football Coach at Brother Rice!

Coach Marshall’s leadership, his understanding of Brother Rice, our values as an institution, our commitment to academic excellence, and his demonstrated ability to build and lead a quality and highly respected program set him apart throughout the search process. His respect for the past, vision for the future, and enthusiasm for the present will serve our student-athletes and school community moving forward.

Coach Marshall was recently named the 2023 Michigan Division 1 High School Football Coach of the Year. This is a homecoming for Coach Marshall, who started high school at Brother Rice before his family moved to Chicago after 10th grade, where he played for and graduated from Mt. Carmel High School. His older brothers, Willis (’93) and Brian (’97), each were student-athletes at Brother Rice before playing football at the collegiate level.

Coach Marshall previously coached at Southfield A&T High School, which he led to the 2023 MHSAA State Championship. Before his successful three years as Head Coach and eight seasons on the coaching staff at Southfield, he was Head Football Coach at Detroit Northwestern High School in 2011-12.

A graduate of Youngstown State University, where he captained the football team, Coach Marshall played three seasons as a quarterback in the professional Arena Football League before beginning his coaching career. A man of deep faith, Coach Marshall sees himself as a mentor and an example of goodness for the young men of Brother Rice, both on and off the playing field.

We look forward to welcoming Coach Marshall, his wife Lynnea, and children Lia, Peyton, and Aaron Jr. to the Warrior family.
