The Edmund Rice Christian Brothers run a camp in Bonita Springs Florida for 50 boys and girls in the local community. This special camp ministers to the children of migrant workers. A group of 8 Brother Rice students traveled to the mission site last July. Our students spent Monday through Friday, involved in various activities and trips. They ministered to the poor of the local parish, most of whom were Hispanic. Teaching English and religion was the first focus, but this teaching led to serving other needs — all the things that make living and learning possible.
Students came to know and understand Blessed Edmund’s saying, “Were we to know the merit and value of only going from one street to another to serve a neighbor for the love of God, we should prize it more than silver and gold.”
