Biography

Coach Mike Venos enters his 41st year in the coaching profession and his 28th season as Head Coach of the Warrior Swimming & Diving Program. Throughout his distinguished tenure, he has guided his teams to 11 MHSAA Class A / Division I and II State Championships and 18 consecutive Catholic League Championships, establishing a record unmatched by any men’s swimming coach in the history of the Catholic High School League.
Under his leadership, the Warriors have produced 18 individual state champions, 17 state championship relay teams, more than 100 All-State performances, over 60 All-American swims, and two United States Olympic Trial qualifiers.
Coach Venos is a member of both the Catholic League Hall of Fame and the Michigan Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (MISCA) Hall of Fame. His excellence has been recognized with numerous honors, including two selections as the MISCA Zone Coach of the Year, seven Class A / Division I MISCA Coach of the Year awards, and two Michigan High School Coaches Association Swimming Coach of the Year honors.
In 2017, Coach Venos received national recognition as the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) National Coach of the Year. Under his guidance, Warrior teams have concluded the season ranked among the Top 10 nationally in 23 of his 27 seasons, while more than 65 of his athletes have continued their swimming careers at the collegiate level across NCAA Divisions I, II, and III.
