Biography

Kenny Chaput,Varsity Hockey Coach , leads one of the most successful high school hockey programs in the state. With a coaching career spanning over two decades, Kenny is known for his strategic mind, leadership, and ability to develop young athletes into high-performing players and responsible young men.

A native of Southfield, Michigan, Kenny earned All-State honors twice while playing at Southfield High School. He continued his hockey career at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, where he also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Managerial Economics and Finance. His coaching journey began in 1997 with local travel teams, and he joined Brother Rice as an assistant coach in 2009 under legendary coach Lou Schmidt Jr.

After seven years as Schmidt’s assistant, Kenny took over as head coach in 2016. In his first season, he led the Warriors to a Division 2 State Championship, winning the final game 7–0—the largest margin of victory in D2 state finals history. Under his leadership, Brother Rice has added state titles in 2017, 2021, and 2023, bringing the program’s total to seven championships.

Kenny’s coaching style emphasizes discipline, teamwork, and character development. He’s known for his attention to detail, strong communication skills, and ability to mentor players through both athletic and personal growth. His influence has helped shape standout athletes like Peter Rosa and Roman Villaire, who played pivotal roles in recent championship runs.

Outside of hockey, Kenny is also a seasoned professional in the financial services industry, serving as Head of Operations & Compliance at CIG Capital Advisors. He holds multiple FINRA licenses and has completed executive education at the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business.

Kenny resides in Wixom, Michigan, with his wife Judy and their four children. He remains deeply committed to both his professional career and his passion for coaching, embodying the values of leadership, integrity, and community.
