MISSION TRIPS

LIMA, PERU

Brother Rice provides students with an international service experience working with the poor in Lima, Peru.  Students are  invited to share the spirit of Blessed Edmund Rice with the children of Peru as they journey to our school Fe Y Alegria #26 in the Canto Grande section of Lima, Peru. Students will spend a week of immersion and missionary work with our school, local families and to the children of a local orphanage.

Students live in the spirit of Blessed Edmund Rice ministering to the children of this developing country.  This trip promises to be a life changing experience for all of our missionaries who partake of this journey. All members of the Brother Rice family are welcome to apply and spend 10 days  in the summer discovering Jesus and Edmund in the face of the poor on our missionary service immersion.  One of the highlights of the trip is the process of tearing down, and rebuilding a house of one of the residents, all of which is done on just two days. All service done on this trip will count for the following years’ service obligation.

BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS

Each November a group of 5-6 students from Brother Rice join with students from 3 other schools in the Christian Brothers network for a week of service and education in Brownsville, Texas. Students learn about current immigration issues in the location that has the highest number of immigrants crossing our Southern border each year, while doing daily hands-on service with refugees and recent immigrants to the United States.
