GAMBIER, Ohio – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released Thursday its list of 2013 Capital One Academic All-District football teams. Among the 27 honorees selected to the District VII team was 2012 Brother Rice graduate and Kenyon College sophomore Alex Oles.
In order to be eligible for Academic All-District consideration, a student-athlete had to be of at least sophomore standing, had to possess legitimate athletic credentials, and had to own a grade point average of 3.30 or better. Because Oles was selected to the Academic All-District first team, he is now eligible for Academic All-America voting, which will commence next week.
Oles plays right tackle and was one of just six offensive linemen voted to the Academic All-District VII team, which encompasses all NCAA Division III institutions in Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. Oles is also a molecular biology major and has made the Kenyon Merit List in each of his first two semesters on campus. Between the lines, he’s played in all eight games and has paved the way for the Lords to average 304 yards of offense per game, including an average of 164 rushing yards per game.
