| | Brother Rice High School has completed an unprecedented sweep of the Catholic League Spring sports championships. With the baseball team’s win over Orchard Lake St. Mary’s May 30, each of the school’s four Spring athletic teams – baseball, lacrosse, tennis and track & field – is the reigning Catholic League champion. Baseball: The only thing hotter than the Warriors, 12-2 winners over St. Mary’s, was the temperature at Comerica Park. More Lacrosse: After shutting down U of D, 19-3, in the semi-finals, the Warriors topped rival Catholic Central, 11-7, for the championship on May 12. More
Tennis: On May 12, Brother Rice edged Catholic Central, 36-33, for the league title, followed by U of D Jesuit 22, Warren De La Salle 16, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep 11 and Royal Oak Shrine 8. More Track & Field: In the A-B Division meet May 22, Brother Rice finished first with 125 points, followed by St. Mary’s 94, Catholic Central 89, De La Salle 72, U of D Jesuit 64, Divine Child 49 and Notre Dame Prep 3.
